Health Care Programs

Health Insurance is a system where individuals prepay an amount to a company, which assumes responsibility for the cost of health care rendered. In other words, health insurance is a social security system that guarantees the provision of needed health services to persons on the payment of token contributions at regular intervals.
The Nigerian health system is characterized by chronic under funding which has resulted in poor performance of the health sector covering approximately 5.4 million people (3.2%) of the population. Government and non-government organizations are advice to collectively develop various form of community based healthcare financing (CBHF) to reach out widely to Nigerians.
It is against this background that we introduce the following programs.
- Malaria LLIT Screens Project;
- Passenger Welfare Scheme;
- Emergency Tourist Health Insurance Scheme;
A healthcare program is a proposition created by Government or non-government agency which aspires to provide good, easy and affordable healthcare solutions to the maximum number of people belonging to different sections of society. Some healthcare programs target the native population while others may focus on specific sections like employed, elderly or newborn. Depending on the requirements of those seeking insurance cover, a health care program is created to serve those needs. The program must mention its goals, target consumer and how it plans to raise its funds for implementing the proposal.
Malaria LLIT Screens Project
Sammoric joins global fight against malaria by developing and manufacturing Long Lasting Insecticide Treated Malaria Screens and bed nets. Infections worldwide now number around 350 to 500 million cases a year, 90 percent of which occurs in Africa with over a million fatalities as a result annually.
Passenger Welfare Scheme
The passenger welfare Scheme is designed to, among other things to project and provide insurance coverage for every passenger traveling within the country.
It is an all-inclusive scheme, expectedly, considering its enormous and positive advantages, all transport companies that operate within the jurisdiction of the law should register with the scheme. The program underscores government socio responsibility to the citizens in the area of the safety of their lives.
Some of the propositions of the scheme are as follows;
- Ensure discipline and responsible driving/drivers on our roads thereby reducing and/or possibly eliminating accidents on our roads.
- Ensure transporters show reasonable care and accept responsibility for the safety of their passengers.
- In the event of accident, appropriate compensation is paid to the victims and/or next of kin of the victims.
Emergency Tourist Health Insurance Scheme
The Scheme is known as the Tourist Insurance Welfare Scheme and is designed to provide emergency health insurance coverage to every visitor at any tourist destination and place of lodging in the Federation. Covering event of unforeseeable injuries sustained by i.e. accident, food poison, terrorist attack and natural disaster when lodging in any registered hotel or guest house within a stated area.
Tourism has become a major source of economic diversification for many states of the Federation. However, only states with effective natural and man-made tourism supporting and enhancing infrastructure would be able to develop their tourism sector and seize the attendant advantages.
Nigeria has huge tourism potentials, especially given its natural and diversified landscapes, but lacks effective tourism supporting and enhancing infrastructures. While tourism affords huge employment and income generating opportunities, the negative impacts of risk and security is well acknowledged hence the emphasis on sustainable tourism through the provision of tourist insurance scheme.
Currently, there have been growing concerns among nation states, international organizations and even tourists for need to provide adequate security measures including insurance cover for tourists to safe guard the lives and properties of tourists at hotels and tourist destinations. Every individual has the right to leisure and freedom to travel. Therefore, there should be and enhancement of human security in our tourism sector to guarantee a regular turn over.
To this end the proposed Sammoric Tourist Health Insurance Scheme to provide cover for both local and foreign visitors within the country’s tourism and hospitality industry becomes very imperative.
